I’ll Wait For You (Acoustic Demo)
By Jack Keys
I recently started writing music again after a long hiatus. This was the first song I wrote, and after letting it cook for a few months, I decided it was time to record those ideas and start getting some feedback. I found that I went back and forth on this song’s lyrics over the months, almost feeling like they were insincere. They represent how I felt for a time, and how I sometimes feel now. They encapsulate something I feel I want to do, but ultimately feel I shouldn’t do. As much as I go back and forth, though, I think they are an accurate expression of what I felt in the moment, when I wrote the song, and I think maintaining that integrity is important to me.
Lyrics
As you search for the stars,
Journey far from the place
That we’ve made
I’ll wait for you
As you scour the earth
O’er the mountains and seas
Without me
I’ll wait for you
I will wait for you
As long as I have to
I will wait for you
Until you see this through
I will wait for you
So do what you must do
I will wait for you
As you fight through the tears,
Try to weather the storms
On your own
I’ll wait for you
As you walk through the dark,
With your heart full of pain
Far away
I’ll wait for you
I will wait for you
As long as I have to
I will wait for you
Until you see this through
I will wait for you
So do what you must do
I will wait for you
I’ll help you bear your burdens
Cry with you when you’re hurting
I’ll help you brave the storms,
Huddled close to keep you warm
And on your darkest days,
I will bring some light your way
I will love you ’til the end
When this journey’s complete
May you find what you seek
Think of me
I’ll wait for you
